TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01 :: Arrive Chennai
Arrival at Anna international airport. Our officer / representative will receive you with warm welcome and assist you to transfer to the hotel.
Overnight stay at the hotel.

 

Day 02 :: Chennai
After breakfast sightseeing of Chennai city which includes Fort St. George- located on the banks of Bay of Bengal, was built by the British East India Company in 1640 AD. The fort is believed to be the first establishment of the British in India. The military architecture marvel, it was erected as a trading post. War Memorials-If you want to explore the vibrant heroic past of India, visit the War Memorial of Chennai. The memorials are dedicated to those soldiers who laid their lives for the welfare of the nation as well as those who died as martyrs, serving their nation.Thousand Lights Mosque-The 'Thousand Lights Mosque' is a well-known holyplace for Muslims in Chennai. The Mosque attracts number of non-Muslims as well and is primarily popular for a number of reasons, such as its name, its architecture and its historical and religious importance.Aslo visit Parthasarathy Temple-The temple situated at Triplicane pays homage to Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu for playing role of the charioteer of the brave warrior Arjuna in the battle field of Mahabharata. Evening free on Marina Beach- is situated at Kamaraj Road, just 3 km away from the city Chennai. Extending to a length of 13 km, it is considered to be second largest beach of the world covering the region from St. George Fort to Mahabalipuram.

Day 03 :: Chennai (Madras) /Kanchipuram / Mamallapooram (170 Kms/ 3-4 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Kanchipuram (76kms/1.50 Hrs). This city was the ancient capital of the Pallavas and was known for its 1000 temples, many of them are still used to this day. The most famous being the Sri Kamakshi temple. The city is today well known for the silks it produces. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then continue driving to Mamallapooram and check in at the hotel. In the afternoon visit Mamallapooram earlier known as Mahabalipooram. This city was a port during the Pallava period. It has some of the most beautiful rock cut temples in South India. It also is home to the famous Shore Temple that is unique because Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are housed in the same sanctum sanctorum. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel. 

 

Day 04 :: Mamallapooram /Tiruvannamalai /Pondicherry (189 Kms/ 4-5 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Tiruvannamallai (112kms/03 Hrs) an important pilgrim center that has an old temple of Lord Shiva. Lunch at a local restaurant and drive on to Pondicherry (131kms/3.5 Hrs). This town has a strong French influence, as it was an erstwhile French colony. Check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 05 :: Pondicherry

In the morning after breakfast visit Aurobindo Ashram, which is 10kms north of Pondicherrry. After lunch at the hotel visit Auroville an interesting experiment where people from various nationalities live together in harmony. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

 

Day 06 :: Pondicherry/Chidambaram/Tanjore (250 Kms/ 5-6 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Chidambaram (65kms/1.5 Hrs) to visit the famous Nataraja Temple. The roof of the sanctum sanctorum is gold plated. Here Lord Shiva is depicted as the cosmic dancer-Nataraja. After lunch at a local restaurant drive to Tanjavur or Tanjore (104kms/3-4 Hrs). On the way visit a Brass factory at Kumbakonam. Tanjore was the capital of the Chola dynasty and has the famous Brahadeswara Temple. Check into the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 07 :: Tanjore/Trichy (54kms/2 Hrs)

After breakfast visit Tanjai Periya Koil, Tanjore Palace & Art Museum.  Leave for Trichurapalli or Trichy located on the banks of the River Kaveri. It is famous for the Ranganath temple at Srirangam. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 

Day 08 :: Trichy/Madurai (133kms/3.5 Hrs)

After breakfast visit Rock Fort Temple, Srirangam and Jambukeshwar Temple. Leave for Madurai. On arrival check into the hotel.  Later visit Meenakshi temple, King Tirumala's Palace, Great Tank and Gandhi museum. Rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 09 :: Madurai/Rameswaram (154kms/4 Hrs)
After breakfast travel to Rameshwaram, is the most sacred temple town in India is actually an island. Legend has it that Lord Rama along with Sita offered prayer to Lord Shiva after defeating Ravana, by praying to a sand Lingam made by Sita on this island. And at this very spot is located the Ramanatha Swamy Temple.

Day 10 :: Rameswaram/ Kanyakumari(300kms/ 8-9  Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Kanyakumari. On arrival check into the hotel.

Day 11 :: Kanyakumari

After breakfast visit Amman Temples dedicated to the Virgin Goddess, Kanya Kumari. Visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial as well. Watch the sun set over the sea.

Day 12 :: Kanyakumari / Trivandrum (87 Kms/ 2 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Trivandrum. On arrival Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple-Thiruvananthapuram's most interesting temple i open to Hindus only, and even they must wear wear a 'dhoti' or 'sari'. Still , it's worth visiting -even if you are just passing through town-to see the temple's seven story carved gopuram  reflected in the nearby sacred tank.Constructed in the Dravidian style by a maharaja  of Travancore in 1733,  the temple is dedicated to Vishnu, who reclines on the sacred  serpent, Anantha, which gives Thiruvanathapuram its name.Also visit Palace Museum-The recently opened Puthen Maliga Palace Museum, adjacent to the temple ,is housed in several wings of the palace of the maharajahs of Travancore. Visit Museums, Gallery & Zoo-The zoo and a collection of museums are in a park i the north of the city . The museums are in a park in the north of the city. The museums are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 4.45pm, but not until 1pm on Wednesday. A single Rs.5 entry ticket covers all the museums and is obtainable from the Natural History of Museum.

Day 13 ::  Trivandrum / Departure
After breakfast you will be dropped at the international airport for onward journey back to home.
